Awareness programs play a vital role in the Humane Dog Population and Rabies Management program. As roaming dog related problems are often encountered in underdeveloped areas, these programs are very important in order to improve community attitudes towards animal welfare, Responsible Pet Ownership (RPO), prevention of dog bites and Rabies.
Education programs help to engage the community actively in helping dog catching and looking after dogs post surgery. This involvement helps the long term sustainability of the project also. In future owned and community dogs will be vaccinated and sterilized and thereby reducing the dumping of unwanted pups.
